Appendix A. The Future of Windows Server

This rebook has focused on the currently available, released version of Windows Server 2003 and its R2 components. The next major revision to the Windows Server product, which Microsoft has codenamed "Longhorn Server," is expected to be released sometime in 2007.

In this appendix, I'll take a look at some of the improvements and fixes that will be integrated with Longhorn Server.

This information is subject to change as Microsoft moves closer to the release date of Longhorn Server and further examines the software market. I include this preview here just for the curious; you shouldn't use it as a basis for long-range hardware or software investment planning.
